Michael Sells, Professor of Islamic History and Literature at the University of Chicago, aims to develop concepts and vocabulary for an analysis of Qur'anic discourse based on the notion of aurality and orality and a recasting of "the reader" as "the audient." The talk will take place in the York Room of the Divinity school and lunch is included.
