Duke Contra Dance

Celebrate the fall growing season and the new semester with a traditional Contra Dance at the Duke Campus Farm. Contra dancing involves a caller working with a group of live musicians to guide dancers of all levels through dances in circle, long-line and square formations. We change partners often, so no need to bring your own. No experience necessary!We are thrilled to be joined by vibrant caller Eileen Thorsos and marvelous musicians Mara Shea (fiddle) and Dean Herington (piano). We'll have farm snacks for all and something hot in the beverage pot for $1.We ask that dancers pay $5 at the farm gate to support our organization's ability to continue hosting such joyous community events :)If you'd like to lend a hand setting up, stop on by Friday morning the 9th, 8am-noon.
