2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Altmetric is a web-based platform that allows anyone in the Duke community to track, search, and measure the conversations about their research happening online. Using the Altmetric Explorer, you can see who has been mentioning your work in major news sources, blogs, government policy documents, Wikipedia, and social media. Unlike other metrics, which are focused on the impact of a journal (impact factor, h-index, etc.), Altmetric tracks your research at the article level, enabling you to assess the impact of your scholarship with a higher level of granularity. At this session we'll be doing an overview of the Altmetric tool at Duke. The Duke University Libraries subscribe to Altmetric Explorer to help faculty and researchers better understand the impact their research is having in academia and beyond.
