Graduate Student Appreciation Week

The Graduate School and the Society of Duke Fellows invite you to participate in the fourth annual Duke GradX talks, an event showcasing graduate research. It will take place on April 6th from 3-6pm, as part of Graduate Student Appreciation Week.

Students are invited to share their research in a fast-paced and engaging format inspired by TED and TEDx talks. Rather than showcasing finished projects, we ask presenters to share a defining question that they are driven to investigate or explore further to a broad audience in the short time frame of 5-6 minutes.

Last year's GradX talks featured topics such as:
- How is knowing a person different than knowing a tornado?
- Why parasites are fascinating and not horrifying?
- How is chewing coordinated?
- How do we capture the energy of the ocean?
- Should computers learn to be fair, and why should we care?
Please visit our website to see more examples on last year's talks and what previous year's speakers had to say.

The GradX talks will be followed by a happy hour from 6-7pm, a chance to meet students and researchers from across the University.
By Friday February 22, 2016 at 5pm, please submit a one-sentence research question and a 200-word abstract to the following link: http://goo.gl/forms/WDLNv5FuvF
Submit now!
