Join Professor Peter Feaver for a conversation with Denis McDonough and Ret. General Martin E. Dempsey AM'84. President Brodhead will introduce the session.

Prior to his role in the White House as Chief of Staff, McDonough served as the Deputy National Security Advisor from October 2010 to January 2013. He also served as the Chief of Staff of the National Security Staff and as the Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications.

Dempsey, the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the nation's highest-ranking military officer, and 2016 Rubenstein Fellow at Duke University. Throughout the year, Dempsey will be teaching courses on leadership and management at the Fuqua School of Business and co-teaching a course in the Sanford School of Public Policy on American civil-military relations with Feaver.

Prof. Feaver is the Director of the American Grand Strategy program at Duke, an interdisciplinary initiative to prepare the next generation of strategists by studying past generations and interacting with strategic leaders.
