Jessica Cook, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health, an Investigator at the Center for Tobacco Research and Intervention (CTRI), and Director of the Madison VA Mental Health Research Cooperative. Dr. Cook obtained her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Illinois-Chicago. Following her doctoral training, she completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Washington School of Medicine/ VA Puget Sound Health Care System. Dr. Cook's research involves 1) developing effective smoking treatments for smokers who do and do not want to quit, and 2) understanding mechanisms of dependence and treatment. She has developed a particular focus on studying the influence of reward functioning deficits (i.e., anhedonia) on cigarette smoking. In addition to conducting research at UW-CTRI, Dr. Cook is a clinical psychologist at the Madison VA where she treats veterans with posttraumatic stress disorder.
