[Formal program begins at 7:00pm in the Goodson Chapel

Black Convocation 2016 will bring together Black undergraduate, graduate and professional students, staff, faculty, and alumni for an uplifting opening to the new academic year. Black Convocation provides an opportunity for connection, orientation, reflection, and focus for the new year. We will welcome back returning members of the community and enthusiastically welcome new members.

Black Convocation speaks to both the distinctiveness and the beauty of Duke's Pan-African community. Black Convocation provides a memorable experience that inspires our Duke community for the entire year, come what may. Black Convocation provides an opportunity for multi-level social engagement between different Black micro-communities and equips us with resources to enhance our Duke experience. Black Convocation won't be a success without YOU!!!

This program is about OUR COMMUNITY - connecting and appreciating one another - at the start of the year before any other devastating events capture the imagination. It is also about reflecting on those we've lost - there will be a special remembrance of Professor Ray Gavins by Rev. Dr. William Turner T'70. The LATEST Black Book will be available.
