Emma Aubin-Boltanski

Emma Aubin-Boltanski, the social anthropologist from the École des hautes études en sciences sociales, Paris, will present her most recent ethnographic documentary [in Arabic with English/French sub-titles], with Q & A to follow.

Aubin-Boltanski works on religious practices of the Middle East, and especially interrelations between Muslim and Christian communities. Her books include: Penser la fin du monde (Thinking the End of the World, 2014), and Pèlerinages et nationalisme en Palestine. Prophètes, héros et ancêtres (Pilgrimage & Nationalism in Palestine : Prophets, Heros, Ancestors, 2007). In recent years, she has turned to the tool of film, and made several ethnographic documentaries. This latest, Catherine Body of Passion, filmed in Lebanon, is representative of her work pursued once, in Syria, and now in Palestine, and Lebanon.
