Hoof 'n' Horn present Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Sweeney Todd, the eponymous demon barber, returns to London in the mid 1800's after spending fifteen years locked up in an island prison unjustly. Seeking the man responsible, a corrupt Judge who violated Todd's wife and plans to marry his orphan daughter, Johanna, Todd's quest for revenge brings him to the pie shop of Mrs. Lovett, living below his former barbershop. Wielding the razors from his past, Todd slits the throats of "the vermin of the world" inhabiting London who step into his shop for a shave; Mrs. Lovett's pie shop, after incorporating the dead bodies as an ingredient for her meat pies, thrives financially. A young sailor whom Todd befriends eventually falls in love with Johanna, and the two plan to flee London together. As the escape plan is being executed, Todd encounters a beggar woman whom he fears knows too much, and he slits her throat. The malicious judge falls into Todd's trap, but before he can celebrate, Todd recognizes the beggar woman-his wife whom the judge violated. Betrayed by the violence that consumed him, an innocent boy who worked at the pie shop slits Sweeney's throat with one of his own razors.
