Since the 2011 "Jasmine Revolution," thousands of Tunisians have travelled to Syria to fight in the ongoing civil war. What accounts for the allure of militancy among Tunisians at precisely the moment when dictatorship has been overcome? Working through narratives collected among the family members left behind, this paper examines the lives and travels of young Tunisians swept up in the "Jihad" phenomenon, and considers their participation within the framework of global regimes of precarious labor migration.
