Neuromesodermal progenitors and the making of the vertebrate body
Sponsor(s): Developmental and Stem Cell Biology (DSCB)
The Martin lab studies zebrafish neuromesodermal progenitors (NMPs), a recently discovered basal progenitor cell population that resides in the tailbud of all vertebrate embryos. We are interested in understanding how NMPs contribute to the normal formation of the vertebrate body axis, as well as using NMPs to model fundamental questions of stem cell biology and cancer in an in vivo system.
