Film Screening: "Tous les matins du monde"/"All the Mornings of the World" (Alain Corneau, 1991, 115min, France, in French w/ English Subtitles, Color, Blu-Ray) / "Tous les matins du monde" is a 1991 French film based on the book of the same name. Set during the reign of Louis XIV, the film shows the eminent musician Marin Marais looking back on his young life when he tried to become a pupil of Monsieur de Sainte-Colombe, and features much music of the period, especially that for the viola da gamba.Upon his wife's death, viola da gamba player Monsieur de Sainte Colombe (Jean-Pierre Marielle) is overwhelmed with grief and retreats from the outside world. The musician moves with his two daughters (Anne Brochet, Carole Richert) into a small house in his garden, where he attempts to create a haven.
