3:00 am - 4:30 am
Ivo Quaranta

The Health Humanities Lab is hosting a talk and roundtable with Ivo Quaranta, a cultural and medical anthropologist at the University of Bologna.

Starting with an overview of the outcomes of two different anthropological action-research projects conducted over the past few years in two health care services in Bologna Province, Italy, this talk will focus on strategies and methodological approaches aimed at bringing a global health perspective to the patient/provider health care relationship. At the theoretical level a profound rethinking of the relationship between anthropology and global health will be discussed, arguing for the need of a critical perspective capable of maintaining the potential of cultural critique in addressing health inequalities.
