Dr. David Mars is the creator of AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) for Couples. He received his PhD in Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, where he now serves as Adjunct Faculty. He is also a Senior Faculty Member at the AEDP Institute in New York City and teaches in AEDP Essential Skills Courses and Core Trainings in Vancouver, New York, and San Francisco. Dr. Mars entered the study of AEDP after thirty years as a process-oriented, somatically- and empathically-focused couples and individual psychotherapist. Since the 1970s, Dr. Mars has been developing innovative techniques for integrating the body into individual, couples, and group therapy to deepen the relationally-attuned experience of patients in treatment. He has taught Authentic Movement for eighteen years, having trained and consulted with Dr. Janet Adler. Dr. Mars has also cultivated a deep awareness of the expressions of the heart, breathing, muscles, and nervous system through the learning gained from two decades of integrating biofeedback into couples treatment and psychotherapy. He has published three papers and created four 3-DVD sets for professional training on AEDP for Couples and trauma treatment.
