The Acquisition of Subject Pronominal Expression by L2 Chinese Learners

In recent decades, an increasing number of studies have documented the acquisition of target language patterns of variability. So far, there has been a substantial body of interlanguage variation studies in relation to the learning of inflectional languages such as English, French, and Spanish as L2s. This study examines variation in subject pronominal expression in Mandarin Chinese (hereafter Chinese), a non-inflectional language, as an L2 and compares with Chinese native speaker patterns.
