n Oct. 26 at 4:30 p.m. ET. ***\n\nHow can data science tools
including artificial intelligence help us make energy systems more acces
sible\, affordable\, reliable\, and environmentally sustainable? Thi
s single-track event will explore leading approaches addressing this ques
tion\, highlighting the work of established experts and energy profession
als as well as emerging scholars in the field.\n\nIn particular\, the sym
posium will examine how data science and machine learning are driving inn
ovation in these areas: remote sensing for energy and climate data\; ethi
cs and social responsibility for energy and climate data analytics\; ener
gy systems modeling\; and energy access.\n\nUS Energy Information Adminis
tration (EIA) Administrator Dr. Joseph DeCarolis will keynote the symposi
um\, which will also feature panels and plenty of networking opportunitie
s. This event will provide an opportunity for dialogue between 100+ pract
itioners\, academics\, and policymakers engaged in data-driven energy res
earch around the country. To help integrate emerging scholars into this b
roader community\, the event will feature five-minute lightning talks sho
wcasing work or sharing a big idea.\n\nORGANIZERS AND FUNDING\nThe sympos
ium is organized by the Energy Data Analytics Lab at Duke University's Ni
cholas Institute for Energy\, Environment & Sustainability and the Energy
Analysis and Policy (EAP) Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
. Funding support is provided by a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundat
ion and NASA.\n\nThis event follows up on the Energy Data Analytics Sympo
sium: Transforming Energy Systems with Data Science Techniques (Dec. 2020
).\n\nThis event is aligned with the Duke Climate Commitment\, which unit
es the university's education\, research\, operations and public service
missions to address the climate crisis.\n\nNote: Conclusions reached or p
ositions taken by researchers or other grantees represent the views of th
e grantees themselves and not those of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation or
its trustees\, officers\, or staff.
