SEELRC Summer Institute on Slavic & Eurasian Language Pedagogy, Research, and Testing

The Summer Institute is organized by the Slavic and Eurasian Language Resource Center (SEELRC), a Title VI-funded center, in collaboration with the Center for Slavic, Eurasian, and East European Studies. The program is divided into two sessions that are offered back-to-back; participants may attend one or both sessions.

Session 1 (July 23-25)-Acquisition, Techniques, Technologies, and Testing
The first session will include presentations by speakers on an array of topics relevant to the pedagogy of Slavic and Eurasian languages. Topics include:

Neuroimaging and multilingualism;Teaching language and culture through film; Language proficiency testing; Specialized language instruction at the advanced and superior level; The use of technology in the language classroom; Integrating heritage students in the language classroom; Addressing the needs of differently-abled students; Using computer technologies to create pedagogical materials; The role of grammar in proficiency-based instruction; Popular culture and language instruction; Web resources for language teachers
