Sulzberger Distinguished Lecture

Ajay Chaudry is a senior fellow and visiting scholar at New York University Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service and Steinhardt School of Culture, Development, and Education. He has conducted policy research and analysis on child poverty, child well-being and development, the social safety net, and the early childhood care system for young children. Chaudry is the author of "Cradle to Kindergarten: A New Plan to Combat Inequality" and "Putting Children First: How low-wage working mothers manage child care," and as well as articles related to child poverty, children of immigrant families, and social policies.

Prior to NYU Wagner, Chaudry was the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Human Services Policy in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (2012-15), Senior Fellow and Director of the Center on Labor, Human Services, and Population at the Urban Institute (2007-12) and Deputy Commissioner for Early Childhood Development at the NYC Administration for Children Services (2004-06).

He received his A.B. from Columbia University, and M.P.P. and Ph.D. from Harvard University.
