Landscape Plants for North Carolina Gardens: Spring

Expand your palette of plants with information from this class. Each season the class covers another group of approximately 75 plants that thrive in North Carolina gardens, plus a few to avoid. You will learn identification skills and design use, and understand the culture of each plant. Class time is primarily outdoors, and each student receives a portfolio of photos showing the plants studied that season. Instructor: Katie Rose Levin, arborist consultant Leaf & Limb, Durham, lives and breathes plants and trees. She has a double master's degree from Duke in forestry and environmental management, and after graduating, she managed trees on Duke's campus for years. Course meets for 4 sessions. Dates: Spring section, 4 Wednesdays, April 11-May 2, 4-6 p.m.; Summer section: 4 Wednesdays, May 30-June 27, (no class on June 13), 4-6 p.m. Location: Doris Duke Center.
