About the lecture
Dr. Lauren Franz will discuss her experiences during her year as Faculty in Residence (FIR) in Cape Town, South Africa. The FIR program supports the career development of a junior DGHI faculty member and facilitates and expands activities in a DGHI priority partnership location. Franz will talk about how the FIR experience served as another critical step in her path toward understanding and addressing gaps in child mental health care in sub-Saharan Africa. She will also present updates and future directions specific to her NIMH funded K01 where she is working in collaboration with researchers and clinicians at the University of Cape Town to implement a caregiver coaching early intervention for autism spectrum disorder.

Lunch will be provided. This event is part of Think Global, a weekly lecture series at the Duke Global Health Institute.
