"Where We At?: A Moment in Durham Skateboarding"

An emerging artist from the Center for Documentary Studies Documentary Diversity Project, Greg Weaver II, will open his new exhibition in Durham, North Carolina, on June 21 at Choice Tattoo in conjunction with Manifest Skate Shop. Where We At?!: A Moment in Durham Skateboarding includes Greg's multimedia work celebrating the skateboarding scene in Durham, with a focus on skateboarders of color and the impact of rapid changes in the city. Doors open 6 p.m., remarks at 7 p.m., video premiere at 8 p.m.; 316 W. Geer St., Suite B.

The Where We At?! opening serves as both a release party and introduction to a zine titled Skillet that Greg has been working on during his time at CDS. Skillet centers southern skateboarding culture, with the first edition being specific to Durham and the large community of people of color connected through skateboarding in the backdrop of rapid gentrification. The zine will be for sale at the opening night of the exhibition, which runs through July 21.
