The Franklin Humanities Institute at Duke University (FHI) will launch its fall programming with a panel discussion on a work of video art at the Nasher Museum. This faculty panel on Christian Marclay's Surround Sounds is the first event in the FHI's theme series "World Arts," which will explore, in the broadest sense, the world-making potential of the arts and the ways in which worlds are imagined within them. To this end, Duke humanities faculty will think through this work by Marclay from various academic disciplines and perspectives: sound studies, graphic script and the relationship between image and text.
