Mixed Media by Ollie Wagner

Arts & Health Galleries
Duke Hospital Concourse
June 27 - August 21, 2019

"A great deal of our life is experienced as well as documented through the filter of various media. The proliferation of photographic mediums has allowed us to memorialize even the most mundane aspects of our lives. Conceptually my work draws influence from two ideas. The first is that our memories are based on our perceptions as much as they are on experience. The second idea pertains to the change an image undergoes when it is repeatedly simulated and the slight permutations that compound with every repetition of an image. Ultimately, this results in a new model, with new meaning, that no longer resembles the original in both aesthetic and purpose. I believe that with time and distance our memories undergo a similar process."
