"My work is inspired by color and pattern, the natural and built landscape, and contemporary and historic textiles. PLAYING is essential to my way of making art.

Weaving on the loom, as I did for 20+ years, was very labor intensive. In 2017, several factors came together to prompt a radical change in direction.

I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease (PD) in 2004 and the physical effort involved with dyeing and weaving became too demanding.

For me, making art is as important as medicine and exercise in my efforts to stave off the progression of PD.

I left the loom without a backward look, set up a big worktable and started to paint, cut and interlace sheets of Tyvek.

In preparing for this exhibition, I've realized that roots can also be routes, and that is most satisfying."
