JS Bach's Sonatas for Violin and Obbligato Harpsichord, Part 2 (this is a continuation of a recital given last year). The four sonatas on the program, BWV 1016-1019, have been transcribed for two violins and continuo by Eric Pritchard. As First Violinist of the Ciompi Quartet, Eric Pritchard performs regularly throughout the U.S. and abroad and can be heard on many commercial recordings. He has appeared as soloist with orchestras including the Boston Pops, Orchestra of New England and Indianapolis Philharmonic. William Conable is Emeritus Professor of Music at the Ohio State University and has appeared as cello soloist with the Columbus, Youngstown, Springfield, Knox County, and Welsh Hills Symphonies. For eleven years he was Principal Cellist of the Columbus Symphony, and has served in the same position for the Youngstown and Springfield Symphonies and the Dayton Opera. Nicholas DiEugenio is Assistant Professor of Violin at UNC -Chapel Hill. He is a core member of the Sebastians, a period group hailed as "topnotch" by the New Yorker and "everywhere sharp-edged and engaging" by the New York Times. Jacqueline Nappi is Minister of Music at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Durham and Piano Teacher and Music Coordinator at Durham Academy. She performs regularly with Mallarme Chamber Players and has been involved in the Duke Chapel Bach Cantata Series since 2016. The Rare Music series is presented in association with DUMIC (Duke University Musical Instrument Collections).
