Environmental Justice Issues: The Benefits of Nature

Forest
Wednesday, July 06, 2022
7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The advantages of spending time in nature are clear: physical, emotional and cognitive benefits have been researched and well documented. Yet our experiences are deeply shaped by our identities, and enjoying the benefits of outdoor places depends on feeling welcome, safe and included. In this online presentation, Diquan Edmonds will share research about how different communities feel about outdoor resources and how to equitably enjoy nature with each other. Edmonds is the education director at the Triangle Land Conservancy.

This class is co-sponsored by Triangle Land Conservancy, Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association and Duke Gardens. Please register through the Duke Gardens Cvent website. Following registration, you will receive an email confirmation with the Zoom link, and a Zoom session recording will be sent to all registrants afterward.

Fee: $24; 20% discount for Gardens members with seasonal member discount code, as well as for TLC members and Ellerbe Creek members at registration. The class meets for two sessions, Wednesdays, July 6 & 13, from 7-8 p.m. Registration is at https://duke.is/rpm3m. Information: 919-668-1707, gardenseducation@duke.edu
