Community as Creator, a project designed to empower the Durham community to activate its role as creators of art and art experiences, presents the works of American composer Pauline Oliveros. Oliveros, whose ideas Deep Listening and Sonic Meditations opened up the creative practice to include not just the participants in the room, but the room, and its sounds, as well. The evening will be led by special guest Kerry O'Brien, professor at Cornish College of the Arts and Brooks Frederickson, director of the Duke New Music Ensemble. Come in comfortable clothing, prepared to move, hum, sing, and listen.
