Duke Divinity School will hold its 93rd Opening Convocation Service with the Rev. Dr. David Emmanuel Goatley, research professor of theology and Black Church Studies at the school, preaching. He is also the director of the Office of Black Church Studies. The first worship service of the 2019-20 academic year for students, faculty, and staff is highlighted by an academic procession of faculty and staff. The convocation service also includes a blessing of new faculty and staff, and a welcoming to the entering class of students. All faculty and staff are invited to process but must provide their own regalia-robes and hoods but no tams. The service will be webcast live on the Duke Chapel YouTube web page at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgoErmxuA80.
