Joel Crawford-Smith, (Web Accessibility Coordinator, OIT) &Todd Stabley (Sr. Media Engineer, OIT)
Learn IT @ Lunch

Video closed captioning is a key component of Duke's strategy for ensuring that materials our community places on the web are accessible to users with disabilities. OIT's Joel Crawford-Smith and Todd Stabley will discuss how Duke's guidelines around web accessibility are driving efforts to caption video on campus, and talk about practical solutions in use at Duke for captioning video. Bring your laptop and pcard to this Learn IT @ Lunch session and we will walk you through the process of setting up an account on Rev.com, Duke's preferred video caption provider, so that you leave this session with all that you need to get started.

Other good topics we will cover include:
* What is "live captioning," and what type of events may require this? What are some approaches to live captioning?
* How can I upload captions to YouTube, Panopto, and Warpwire?
* How can I edit YouTube autocaptions?

Learn IT @ Lunch is designed to be an opportunity to learn about technology in a relaxed lunch environment. Each session includes a presentation followed by Q & A. No pre-registration is required. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis. NOTE: Lunch is not provided. Feel free to bring a brown bag lunch.
