Preston McQueen - Woodturning
Sponsor(s): Arts & Health at Duke
I've been a woodworker since I was a boy building treehouses with "scrap" wood, stepping on rusty nails. I started woodturning about 15 years ago at my brother-in-law's wedding. It was a life-changing moment to see an old piece of mesquite wood come to life as the grain and figure were exposed by turning away the outer bark and sapwood. At that point I decided to focus on turning and its become my passion! Since then, I have been constantly learning and experimenting with new techniques and styles to expand my abilities and joys. I enjoy turning bowls, boxes, candlesticks, and other round objects. - Preston McQueen
