Duke-Industry Statistics Symposium

This annual symposium is organized by the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, Duke University School of Medicine and co-sponsored by Amgen, ASA-NC Chapter, Boehringer-Ingelheim, ICSA, IQVIA, Janssen, Journal of Biopharmaceutical Statistics, PAREXEL, PPD and SAS. The symposium was established 5 years ago to discuss challenging issues and recent advances related to the clinical development of drugs, biologics and devices and to promote research and collaboration among statisticians from industry, academia, and regulatory agencies.

The theme for this year will be "Innovative Design and Analysis for Complex Clinical Trials for Drug and Device Developments." The first day will be devoted to four short courses. The 2nd day will begin with opening remarks by Dr Larry Carin, Vice Provost for Research of Duke University, followed by a keynote speech by Dr. John Scott, Director for the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on "Informing Decision Making through Innovative Trial Designs and Analysis." 15 Parallel sessions will be held on days 2 and 3. Dr. Scott Berry of Berry Consultants will give a keynote speech on "Innovating the Clinical Trial: Adaptive and Platform" on the final day.
