12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Dr. Diane Bloom

The year was 1970, and racial tensions were high across the country, and right here in Durham. "An Unlikely Friendship" tells the story of how civil rights activist Ann Atwater and Klansman CP Ellis came to work together for the betterment of the Durham community. We are so pleased to have the documentary filmmaker, Dr. Diane Bloom, attend our event and provide opening commentary and post-film discussion. The story of Ms. Atwater and Mr. Ellis has been made into a Hollywood movie, "The Best of Enemies," which opens in theaters on April 5th. You don't want to miss the real story before seeing the Hollywood movie!
