Some Thoughts on Legal Reasoning with Judge Michael B. Brennan

Please join us for a conversation with Judge Michael B. Brennan, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, on legal reasoning. Judge Brennan will discuss what we mean by legal reasoning, its particularities, its limits, how to construct the best legal arguments, and the importance of legal reasoning. Judge Brennan was appointed as a court of appeals judge in 2018. Prior to his appointment, Judge Brennan was an assistant district attorney in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, staff counsel to the Wisconsin Criminal Penalties Committee, a member of the Wisconsin Governor's Task Force to Enhance Probation, in private practice in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a Judge to the Wisconsin Circuit Court. Judge Brennan served as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert W. Warren, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin and the Honorable Daniel A.
