Carillon Recital

Duke Chapel tower
Sunday, September 26, 2021
5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Joseph Fall, Carillonneur, Duke University Chapel

Duke Chapel Carillonneur Joseph Fala gives a recital on the Chapel's carillon featuring music from John Courter, Mathias van den Gheyn, Geert D'Hollander, and Roy Hamlin Johnson, as well as a medley of beloved hymn tunes.

The Chapel's fifty-bell carillon is among the oldest and largest such instruments in the American South. Both the instrument and the carillon recital series are named in honor of the late J. Samuel Hammond (1947-2021), university carillonneur emeritus, who played Duke's carillon from 1964 until his retirement in 2018.

Those attending the recital are invited to bring a lawn chair or blanket for seating on the Chapel Quad. Masks are required on the Duke campus in all indoor locations and strongly recommended in outdoor settings with a gathering of people. For more information, see the university's public health measures: https://returnto.duke.edu/public-health-measures/ .

Parking is available on a first-come-first-served basis in the Bryan Center Parking Garage at 125 Science Drive at a cost of $2 per hour. ADA parking is available in the parking lot immediately in front of the garage.

The recital will also be streamed live on the Chapel's Facebook page at facebook.com/DukeChapel.
