12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Jack Goldsmith, the Henry L. Shattuck Professor of Law at Harvard University, will deliver the annual Brainerd Currie Memorial Lecture on "The Failure of Internet Freedom." Goldsmith will make the case that the pursuit of internet regulation policies encouraging individual flourishing, technological innovation, and economic prosperity in the United States have had disastrous consequences abroad and domestically, where a relatively unregulated internet is being used for ill, to a point that threatens basic American institutions. Goldsmith is the author, most recently, of The Terror Presidency: Law and Judgment Inside The Bush Administration (W.W. Norton 2007), as well as of other books and articles on many topics related to terrorism, national security, international law, conflicts of law, and internet law. Sponsored by the Office of the Dean. For more information, please contact Kristin Triebel at kristin.triebel@law.duke.edu.
