Kit Yan and Melissa Li are a queer Asian American musical theater writing team based in New York City. They are 2019 Dramatists Guild Foundation Fellows, MacDowell Colony Fellows, Lincoln Center Writers-in-Residence, and 2019-2020 Musical Theater Factory MAKERS. Their works include INTERSTATE, "Best Lyrics" winner at the 2018 New York Musical Festival; MISS STEP, a 2019 Vivace Award winner; and most recently, CANCELLED, a one-act musical.

Panelists Jennifer C. Nash (GSFS), Esther Kim Lee (Theater Studies), and Yun Emily Wang (Music), along with the artists, will discuss a performance of INTERSTATE, virtually hosted as a Ruby Friday noon presentation, and explore intersectional identities, performance, and the political potentials of storytelling.

Presented by Ethnomusicology, Music, Theater Studies, Gender Sexuality and Feminist Studies, Asian American and Diaspora Studies, Cultural Anthropology, Duke Arts.
