Staff of the Duke Forest

The tradition continues. After four years, the Duke Forest Gathering returns to the Forest History Society for an evening of connection and learning. Let us pour you a glass of wine while you learn about the state of the Duke Forest Teaching and Research Laboratory and the special projects going on in New Hope Creek. Beyond the typical updates on teaching, research, and management, regular visitors to the Korstian Division will be treated with a presentation from Executive Director Sara Childs about a major habitat restoration project that involves the removal and replacement of the Concrete Bridge and a partial dam downstream. This New Hope Creek habitat restoration project is one of the largest undertakings in the history of Duke's biggest and oldest teaching and research lab. We'll showcase pictures from Peter Jeff Nicholls and have a special guest speaker to highlight the restoration project's potential impact on freshwater mussels.
