Chris Vitiello
Scholars + Storytelling

Chris Vitiello is Poetry Fox, who has written nearly 10,000 custom, on-demand poems on vintage typewriters over the last six years--while dressed in a fox costume. Join us for a discussion of Poetry Fox's development and how it has transformed Vitiello's writing practice from a closed, methodical process to an open, public, and spontaneous one. He will also write a poem for one lucky attendee!

Vitiello is a writer, poet, critic, and performer based in Durham. His other work includes Obedience (Ahsahta Press, 2012), a 2017 Rabkin Prize for Arts Journalism, art and performance criticism at Indy Week, curated exhibitions at art spaces including the Ackland Art Museum, and the 2017 ArtPrize installation "The Language is Asleep."
