Mental Health Awareness Candlelight Vigil

NAMI, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Suicide Prevent Awareness Month, Candle
Monday, September 10, 2018
7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

On September 10th, NAMI at Duke is hosting our third annual Mental Health Awareness Candlelight Vigil in honor of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.

The vigil will be a supportive forum for people to share their stories and experiences with mental health. Your stories show the diverse experiences of living with and loving those with mental illness. Your presence shows our community that you are willing to listen and support us. Together, we hope to de-stigmatize the issues of mental health and mental illness.

If you would like to submit an anonymous story about mental illness to be shared at the event, please follow the link: https://goo.gl/forms/p3fceKxpdnZMRabt1.

Whether you are there to share or listen, feel free to stay as long as you'd like.

*Trigger Warning: The stories we will be reading may have sensitive material that could potentially cause distress. Some of the topics that might be covered are self-harm, suicide, addiction, and trauma. Representatives from NAMI at Duke and CAPS will be in the audience in case you are in need of support during this event. We will also remain at the event space after the event in case anyone is in need of support following the story reading.*
