Think-In: Future-Proof Learning Design Workshop

In his 2017 book, Robot Proof: Higher Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence*, Joseph Aoun, president of Northeastern University, talks about the importance of educating the next generation of college students to invent, to create, and to discover, in effect filling roles that sophisticated robots can't.
At this Think-In, attendees will review Aoun's work and participate in a workshop that invites them to consider what "Future Proof Learning" could look like at Duke by addressing: a re-envisioning of the curriculum to include a focus on technology, human/technology interaction, and humanics; opportunities for investment in experiential education; and the goal of putting lifelong learning at the heart of what we do.
Attendees are asked to review some basic materials regarding Aoun's conceptual framework prior to attending. You may:
- Attend the Pre-Event on Friday, October 5, or
- Watch the first few minutes of the YouTube video "Robot Proof: A Conversation," or
- Read this Forbes interview with Aoun, "Northeastern University President Joseph E. Aoun: How to Be 'Robot-Proof'"
*The first 20 registrants will receive a copy of Joseph Aoun's book, Robot Proof: Higher Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.
Lunch will be provided.
