Event Image
Tuesday, April 09, 2019
1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Bridget Fletcher and Johnna Frierson

Attending one of these events will count as Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) credit for faculty and staff. Please bring your Duke ID, as we will be tracking attendance using an ID card scanner.

Join us for an interactive session on effectively engaging international students in a variety of contexts including the classroom, research groups, etc. We will discuss recent language identity events at Duke, examine the challenges faced by international graduate students, and introduce ways to effectively engage this population in the classroom, lab, and in mentoring situations. Participants will leave this session with several practical ideas for international student engagement and an understanding of resources that exist to help support faculty and students navigating challenging intercultural situations.
