Music Maker 25 Roundtable Discussion

Coinciding with Duke Performances' Music Maker 25 festival, renowned folklorist, author, and former chair of the National Endowment for the Humanities William R. Ferris moderates a special roundtable discussion at The Fruit in downtown Durham featuring an all-star panel of Music Maker Relief Foundation artists, staff, and friends: founder Timothy Duffy, Fat Possum Records owner Bruce Watson; guitarist Alabama Slim, vocalist Pat "Mother Blues" Cohen, and singer-songwriter Pura Fé.

Panelists will reflect on the mission and rich history of the groundbreaking Hillsborough-based nonprofit, which for 25 years, has ensured that the voices of hundreds of extraordinary blues and folk musicians are not silenced by poverty or time. All attendees are invited to tour the free, full-scale exhibition at The Fruit, open through Sunday, December 8, showcasing the contributions of Music Maker musicians and the rich musical traditions of the South.
