Keith Knight is a special guest for the "Dick Gregory and the History of Black Comedy" course, taught by Professor Mark Anthony Neal, the James B. Duke Professor of African & African American Studies. The course features guest appearances by professional comedians, critics and screenings of rare and/or classic films.

The 6:15 p.m.-7:30 p.m. class is free and open to the public on Thursdays where it is held at the NorthStar Church of the Arts, a converted church in Durham.

Knight is an award-winning cartoonist. His autobiographical work addresses race, family, politics, and current events in a unique style that evokes everything from MAD magazine, P-Funk album art, underground comix and Warner Brothers cartoons. His work has been seen in the New Yorker, the Washington Post, the Funny Times and Daily KOS. He is currently working on the first season of HULU's "Woke," a live-action TV series based on his life and comics.
