Duke University String School: Orchestra Concert

DUSS Youth Symphony

This concert will feature the 2019-20 DUSS Concerto Competition winners performing the Barber Violin Concerto, Prokofiev Violin Concerto No. 2, and Corelli's "La Folia." The Duke String School is directed by Erica Shirts. The Intermediate String Orchestra is conducted by Matt Stutzman. The Concert String Orchestra is conducted by Rob Rempher, and the DUSS Youth Symphony is conducted by Shelley Livingston. The Duke University String School was founded by Dorothy Kitchen and a member of the Ciompi Quartet, Arlene di Cecco, in 1967, and has been part of Duke ever since. DUSS serves area students in grades K-12, teaching the violin, viola, cello, and bass through private lessons, chamber music groups, and orchestras at a variety of levels.
