Landscapes: An Exploration of Color and Texture - Experiments in Paper Quilling - Griffin is an artist, interior designer, mom of three, and military spouse located in Fayetteville, NC. Her medium of choice is the centuries old crafting technique of quilling, or paper fillagree. While traditional quilling uses hand rolled and folded strips of paper to adorn surfaces, Griffin removes that surface and glues the folded and rolled paper strips to each other, elevating paper from merely a back drop for images and text to a focal point in itself. The textures, patterns, and forms found in the built and natural environment as well as the traditional decorative crafts of weaving, macrame, lace and pottery heavily inspire her work.
