5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Join us on zoom for an homage to Juan Padrón, the great Cuban filmmaker! Juan Padron, born in 1947 in Matanzas, died on March 24, 2020, in Havana, Cuba. Known as the most prolific and important film animator in Cuba, Padrón received international attention for Vampires in Havana (1985), an adult-oriented comedy, a parody of the revolution. In 1982, Padrón and his team of Cuban animators developed a project with Quino (Joaquín Salvador Lavado Tejón), a series of six shorts based on the sharp commentary of the Argentinean creator of Mafalda.
CLACS will show three of the so-called Quinoscopios (15min) and share a subtitled version of Vampiros en la Havana (72 min). Email miguel.rojassotelo@duke.edu with the subject April 2020 Film Series to receive the invitation link to the film. Indicate if you want to participate in all films or just one.
