MEASURE Evaluation's Experiences Implementing Rigorous Program Evaluations in Low- and Middle-Income Countries

About the lecture
MEASURE Evaluation is a five-year United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded cooperative agreement with a mandate to build capacity for rigorous evaluation in low- and middle-income countries and for countries to generate and use health information data to improve health. Recently, impact evaluations have been criticized for their high cost and lack of timeliness of results, despite their power to yield valid information about program effectiveness at the population level. If demand for IEs decreases, there will remain a need for methods and approaches that yield information about program effectiveness in real-life settings, enabling choices among programs and decisions about program scale-up.

Dr. Reynolds will share learning from MEASURE Evaluation's experiences implementing IEs, implementing evaluations that capitalize on other data collection investments, and employing designs that yield plausible associations between programs and outcomes.
