Pharmacogenomics Implementation at Cincinnati Children¿s Hospital Medical Center

Dr. Ramsey is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Research, Division of Research in Patient Services, Co-director, Genetic Pharmacology Service at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. She completed her undergraduate work in 2004, receiving her BS in chemistry at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, IA. She then joined the Molecular, Cellular, Developmental Biology & Genetics Program at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN, where she studied the role of B cell receptor signaling in autoimmunity and leukemia.

After defending her thesis and receiving her PhD in 2009, Dr. Ramsey began her postdoctoral training with Dr. Mary Relling at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. There she studied pharmacogenomics, and identified genetic variants associated with clearance of the drug methotrexate.

Dr. Ramsey is a member of the Clinical Pharmacogenetics Implementation Consortium (CPIC), and led the 2014 update of the CPIC guideline regarding SLCO1B1 and simvastatin-induced myopathy.

The Genomic and Precision Medicine Forum series is on Thursdays from 12-1 pm and is open to students, faculty and staff across Duke University campus. A light lunch will be provided.
