Lixiao Huang PhD
Postdoc Practice Job Talk

Lixiao Huang from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science will present her talk on "Human-Robot Interaction Research: Responses, Design, and Education" (abstract below). We encourage postdocs to attend and support Lixiao by providing feedback! You don't have to be in the same field of study; presenters receive valuable info from audience members about clarity, communication style, and other 'big picture' issues.

Title and Abstract: Human-Robot Interaction Research: Responses, Design, and Education
The goal of my current research on Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) is to improve human activity, functionality, efficiency, and well-being through research-based ergonomic design of robots and technologies. My research vision has three aspects. The first is the humans' emotional, behavioral, and cognitive responses to existing robots. This aspect identifies the critical interaction issues and theories in existing HRI domains for further examination of them, for example, the nature of emotional attachment and trust in autonomy. Second is the application of Human Factors (HF) to the designing of new human-robot interfaces. This aspect will use the research findings to improve and test the design of the human-technology interfaces. Third is the education of robotics, HRI, and other subjects using robots.
