My Friend Abe: A Holocaust Survivor's Story
When Abe Piasek was 13, the Nazis took him away from his family. He never saw them again. He worked in three slave labor camps from 1942-45 and was liberated from a cattle car in 1945 at age 16. It wasn't until 50 years later that he finally began to open up about his experiences in the Holocaust. Abe passed away in January 2020 at age 91. Before he died, he asked Steve Goldberg to keep telling his story. In the past 16 months, Goldberg, a Duke graduate, has kept Abe's legacy alive by sharing his story with more than 2200 people. He's looking forward to sharing it with us at the Freeman Center on February 22nd at 6:30pm.
